​David T. Leake is the owner of the Law Office of David T. Leake, Esq. located in downtown Somerset. Attorney Leake opened his office after Joseph B. Policicchio, an attorney with 40 years of experience in Somerset, transferred his law practice to Attorney Leake. His office occupies an entire building on West Main Street and he has a full time paralegal/secretary/public notary on staff with over twenty years of experience to assist him.

​Attorney Leake has extentensive courtroom experience as his practice focuses mainly on courtroom litigation. He has presented countless cases before the court and is generally before the court at least once a day. At any given time he has at least one hundred docketed cases in Somerset County.



Experience as Judicial Law Clerk
Attorney Leake was previously employed as a Judicial Law Clerk in the 16th Judicial District of the Court of Common Pleas located in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.  

As there were only four judges in Somerset County, and two law clerks, he was fortunate to work for each judge and gain experience in many fields of state law.  He assisted in the drafting of many judicial opinions for civil, orphans' court, family, and criminal matters, in various stages of litigation from preliminary objections all the way to motions for post-trial relief.  

​His experience of the law from the judicial perspective aids him as a practicing attorney.

Attendance at Duquesne University School of Law School
Mr. Leake graduated from Duquesne School of Law and was subsequently admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.  As an evening student he worked full time throughout law school for a law firm. On top of his employment he had many internships, was a certified legal intern at KidsVoice, research assisted Harvard Law School graduate Professor Kenneth Gray, wrote a case note published in the Duquesne Criminal Law Journal, was an Executive Moot Court Board Member, and won a National Moot Court Competition. Upon graduation he received numerous awards for excellence in trial and appellate advocacy, as well as one of the most prestigious graduation awards called the John Sciullio Peer Excellency Award, a peer voted award for outstanding work ethic and integrity. He was also inducted into the Order of the Barristers.


He continues to stay involved at Duquesne Law School assisting with the Appellate Moot Court program, and was the alumni coach of Duquesne's 2015 moot court teams for the competition he won while in law school. He was also the competition administrator for the 2015 American Bar Association's National Client Counseling Competition at Duquesne, where he coordinated the competition consisting of law students and faculty advisers from law schools all over the country, and 100 legal professionals who volunteered to judge the competition.

​Attendance at Mercyhurst University
Attorney Leake attended Mercyhurst University, a small catholic university in Erie, Pennsylvania, for his undergraduate studies. He was a double major in political science and philosophy. He was awarded numerous scholarships, was on the dean's list multiple years, and completed his philosophy major with a 4.0 GPA.

Mr. Leake enjoys hunting and fishing. He is a firearm enthusiast and shoots handguns competitively in his free time.
